Recraft’s model generations

Recraft has released four generations of its own model:

V4.1

This is the latest generation. It delivers photorealism that actually looks real, sharper vector and illustration work, and strong results even from short prompts. It’s also the first generation to introduce Utility variants, built for flat, predictable outcomes when simplicity matters, making it perfect for product shots or mockups.

V4

This model is the previous generation and still a dependable default for everyday raster and vector generation. It’s also the more opinionated of the two, leaning further into stylization than V4.1, with a knack for super stylish, unique photoshoots.

V3

The V3 model costs less per image than V4 and generates faster too. It’s built for style consistency, precise text positioning, and artistic level control, and it’s home to some of Recraft’s most-loved styles, including Risograph and Hard flash. The vector variant is a strong pick for illustration work.

V2

This is Recraft’s most affordable model. It’s the one to reach for a specific look, like the long-loved Plastic 3D style, or when you need vector icons with consistent line width and shape across a whole set.

Variants within a generation

Most generations ship in more than one variant:
  • Standard is the default raster model.
  • Pro outputs at higher resolution, for print-ready assets and large-format work.
  • Vector generates editable SVG files directly, instead of raster images.
  • Utility (V4.1 only) uses flat lighting and front-facing composition, built for mockups and product shots rather than creative exploration.
